You could not have asked for a nicer day to be at Explore Park this past Sunday. Hikers were treated to a warm yet breezy day that made the trek an especially enjoyable one. Volunteers were out in troves with golf carts to assist those less mobile and take them up to the festivities area where everyone was treated to delicious barbecue pulled pork sandwiches courtesy of Blue Ridge Catering.
There were lots of games, including corn hole and jumbo sized jenga blocks to keep people entertained. And the live band performing kept everyone’s toes tapping with renditions of classics with a bluegrass twist that fit perfectly with the rustic mountain hiking setting.
If the heat was too much for you, there was also plenty of tented social areas and naturally shaded places to escape to. Our EZ Rampz tent for instance was host to several leather lift-chair recliners, accompanied by ice cold water and a jumbo sized fan to make you feel right at home.
